We are a small independent design studio in the North-East of England, established in 2019. We work across product, packaging and retail to create ideas and bring them to life. We have over 25 years experience in design, consultancy and education.

Meet The Team

David O'Leary

David founded Small Dog Studio in 2019 after working in design for over 20 years. It enables him to work closely with clients to create good things. He firmly believes that good design can and should make a positive difference to the world. He works to that end.

David has experience in physical products, packaging and retail. He has worked with everything from small local enterprises to global businesses. He would describe himself as a 'generalist' who can apply himself to lots of things. He has wide ranging design skills and knowledge that he brings to bear on whatever challenge is before him.

He was trained in the old 'analogue' methods – drawing, drafting, physical model making but he's also good with computers, 3D printers, Laser cutters and desktop CNC machines.

Pedro O'Leary

Chief of Distraction

Pedro is the inspiration behind our name. He helps us live more in the moment and is a (sometimes) welcome distraction from the stresses of work life.

He's always happy to see you and is a wonderful companion in the studio. He helps to keep us more active and enjoy life too on regular walks.
